A common tree in parklands and village greens. Late Spring the tree is cover in candle shaped white flowers, later turning to the well known glossy redy-brown conkers in the autumn. Palmate leaves, 5 to 7 pointed leaflets spread from a central point. The tree can tolerate most soils from dry sandy soil to heavy wet clay and chalky soil.
